My band is "me" with more than a little help from my lyricist, Tony Shears, on the songwriting front. Our songs might not be typical of today's market but neither are they antiquated, hence the Adult Contemporary title. This particular album "Remnants Of A Cavernous Boot" is a reference to our seventies band "Cavernous Boot" which consisted of Tony and myself along with the world's best guitarist Dave Draper and our seriously deranged drummer Steve Allen who tried vainly to keep us in line with his beat. We mainly played the North London pubs and clubs at the time and had as much work as we wanted, so we couldn't have been that bad. Most tracks on this album are new songs that we wrote last year, some are melody written for lyric, some are lyric put to a melody and a couple are re-writes of our original songs being performed 40 years ago. It's a very mixed bag which I hope you'll find as enjoyable to listen to as it was to record.

Story behind the song
The message of this song may register with those of us who have achieved a significant number of birthdays and accumulated a commensurate number of memories. As years pass, pieces of those memories resurface and it can be most rewarding to join them together once again.
Lyrics
Remnants from our story book As scraps of odd materials are saved for future times So fragments of old memories are stored They're very often never used because of absent minds Although the whole originals were very much adored You don't recall the poem just some lines But if you make an effort then a patchwork can be made A blanket or a quilt or crazy coat It won't be like it's shop bought and the edges may be frayed They're formed back into verses nothing like the author wrote But joined again the memories will not fade Remnants of the clothes you wore, remnants of the love we swore Remnants of ideas and thoughts that passed Make them as you know you should, make them into something good Make them, oh please make them, make them last Our life is one experience that never can be taught And no-one else but us can so revise Forgetting is too easy we should concentrate our thought And see again those images so good to recognise Which not for any fortune could be bought Remnants of a glance or look, remnants from our story book Remnants from those times that flew so fast Make them as you know you should, make them into something good Make them, oh please make them, make them last Remnants of the clothes you wore, remnants of the love we swore Remnants of ideas and thoughts that passed Make them as you know you should, make them into something good Make them, oh please make them, make them last
