Stop Animation
We are a couple of fellows who enjoy music and like to make it ourselves whenever possible. Though there are thousands of miles between us for 8 months out of the year, we continue to send each other songs via "Internet" and compose our parts individually.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Our history has been complicated, though hardly interesting. We've been playing music collectively since 1999. Jazz band, past friendships, and shared musical interests brought us together. We played all over town and were booed by many an angsty would-be punk rocker. However, just when we began to write songs that didn't suck, we decided to "take a break" and our guitarist joined the popular alternative rock band Kaddisfly. Reforming in 2003 as Stop Animation, we wrote a fresh crop of songs, recruited Dylan Girard to play trumpet, and recorded several of them for the EP "Sun : Shine :: Red : Wine". Afterwards, Nick and Andrew left for college to pursue careers as corporate assholes.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
A few small venues in Bend, the Paintshop and the Sons Of Norway Hall. Playing live is a kick in the pants, though it is not what I would call our area of expertise.
Your musical influences
Now that would be giving away all of our secrets, wouldn't it?
