Stone Johnson & the Blues Revue is more than a blues band, it's a revolution! Dedicated to keeping the blues alive and into the next century, we set out to write songs that were among the unconventional forms of blues music. also playing all the greatest blues songs of all time, SJB is a mix of Chicago, Delta, Texas and Electric Blues styles.
Band/artist history
In 1973, a boy of 8 years old, picked up a guitar and fell in love with the blues. 2007, He still holds onto his Roots and with guitar slung over his shoulder, Rob Husak realized a dream what was to become SJB. Rob teamed up with Steve Stutz in Feb of 2007 and was asked to play a Blues show at a local club.Rob and Steve assembled a lineup of blues players that rocked the house to a packed crowd. On Drums, Jeff Carroll seemed to be the man for the job, coming off a run with the Downright Blues Band in Ohio, and has been an original part of SJB ever since. Originally going with a Bassist who was not a blues player, they decided to team up with ex-Longshot Bassist Dave White. Playing for enthusiastic crowds ever since, it was only a matter of time before SJB took their music to the next level....... It was Jeff who knew him, a keyboard player, a pianist, a guitar player, a Blues Harp player....Joe Halasz. Smokin' Joe Halasz, they call him, it was never a question of if, but when he would become a member. It has been history in the making ever since, with at least 6 originals written, a new CD in 2008 coming out and playing traditional, Texas, Chicago, Delta and Modern Blues to many many fans, Stone Johnson & The Blues Revue is on a mission, a mission to bring the blues to everyone they can in way that was conceived as a dream in 1973.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live almost every weekend. We've been called "the hardest working band" around because we are out there every weekend to play music. We absolutely love playign live, it gives us a chance to more expressive. When you are in the studio, it's a controlled environment, playing live let's us be "us" to the public.
Your musical influences
There are many within the group, i would say the blues brothers music, Definately SRV, BB King, Alnert King, Buddy Guy, Chris Duarte, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Howlin' Wolf, Hubert Sumlin, Eric Clapton and Robert Johnson. We ar emor einto the roots of the blues nusic, we go back to the old Robert Johnson Recordings quite often.
What equipment do you use?
We use Epiphone and fender guitars, Epiphone,Marshall and Hartke amps. Ludwig Drums, Peavey, QSC and ART sound Equipment, JBL Speakers, Shure mics and Rhodes keys.
Anything else?
Blues is alive and well, and we intend to keep it that way.
