Still Life (Toronto)
Still Life from Toronto, Ontario.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
It is just a matter of time before you lay down your arms.
Still Life has been passionately creating music together for nearly one year now, along with gigging in and around the greater Toronto area. Comprised of five artists from an array of musical backgrounds, Still Life bring an unconventional and finely honed approach to their songwriting and performance, which is being labeled as an alternative to alternative music.
Are you looking for hype and image? Well, it does not take precedence here. Still Life develops exclusively on the intensity and emotional force behind their music. This combination along with their songwriting skills and unique live performance is what gives Still Life the reputation of a prominent, up and coming musical faction. Still Life issued a limited promo CD in August 2003; the band recorded and produced it independently. Currently, Still Life is diligently working on recording an in-studio EP with a tentative release date set for the end of the 2004 summer season. The upcoming EP will consist of new material along with re-recordings of a few older songs.
We have begun to poison the world with our perverted opinions and transformed into a one-sided, discoloured ball of sincerity. No longer an academic resource for researchers or an empty stage for the lonely, Still Life is now a huge shopping mall which apparently will transform the way we do business and save us all from disparity. Still Life formed in the spring of 2003. After months of rigorous rehearsing, the songs came together rather swiftly and the chemistry between the band mates was highly evident. Thus, this was the birth of the band Still Life. The name represents the notion of optimism, the emotion in the music illustrates everything and nothing - all at a momentary stand still.
Still Life will continue to write and perform in order grow as a band and to further develop into an authentic and melodic musical experience. The sky may be the limit but the music is certainly not.
