Still Above

Still Above is gospel group with a difference. We've got have a new touch of gospel, a mix of R&B, rap and African and Soul Afrotonic vibes. We come from East-Africa Uganda we love serving the Lord through music. Brian Shepherds and Whodat are members of the group. Our album "Why not" is set to be realesed early this year 2006, but you can listen to some of the music by clicking in the link below. Still Above was started in 2003 with a vision of changing the face of Gospel in the six continents of the world. We also play educational music, like the some of the songs on the album ie:Abstainance & Join us. Here we teach the youth on how to stay alive, and join in the fight against AIDS.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Still Above was formed by Brain Shepherds and Whodat in 2003. They met in High school at Lubiri S.S, and became friends after realizing that they hard the same vision of serving God through music. Apart from books, Brian, used to perfom on the music talent shows at school, also did boxing, football, athletics and scouting. Whodat was more into music and used to spend most of his free time in the music room singing with the Lubiri Rythms. He he played soccer, basketball and drama. He always made sure that he performs at the music talent shows. He loved 2pac and R.kelly mostly. In Dec. 1999 Whodat got born again and joined Brian to serve God through music. At first they called themselves Addicted to Jesus, but in 2003, they got more serious in ministry and came up with Still Above. They started out ministering in schools, churches, conferences and apeared on the national TV three months after teaming up. Still Above came up with a vision of changing the face of Gospel in the six continents of the world
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We love playing live, but many times we use our own tracks and roll on. If it's a special service we play live, Brian gets on the guiter and Whodat on the Keyboard, an acapella also can fit there. So we go out in churches, concerts, conferences, camps and on the streets ministering to people.
Your musical influences
We play R&B, rap and African style. This is aimed at targeting the youth, our message is audible enough and the tracks really make you move! We reach out to the young & old, black & white. All age categories appreciate our music and hence, the gospel flows.
What equipment do you use?
The keyboard, Mackie mixer, HR824 monitors, hot tracks...We are now into the production process, we have started making our own tracks and God willing in future we shall own a studio. One of our members Joab(Whodat) is now a producer at FishNet Records, and he has done a great job in producing our album.
Anything else?
We'd like to make videos for some of our songs like "Abstainance, Join Us,..." an we're believing God for a breakthrough.
