Our style is a mixture between melodic Black-Death Metal with classical Heavy Metal, adding something taken from Progressive Metal and Classical Music. We try not to copy other bands, and mixing all of this in something that could sound personal, but the final assessment must be done by the person who listens to us.
Band/artist history
Stigian Lake was formed in 2002 by Pablo Carrascosa (bass and vocals), Pedro Gómez (keyboards and vocals), Carlos Carrascosa (guitars and backing vocals), Juan García (guitars and vocals) and Alfonso Gosálbez (drums). In the beginning their name was Stigia, but shortly after it, they changed their name to the one they have nowadays, which is Stigian Lake, a dark and mysterious place in greek mythology, which was crossed by Caronte to carry the dead souls from alive peoples world to dead peoples one. All of us were studying in Valencia, and had experience as musicians, because of being in other bands o because of studying in schools of music (Pedro and Pablo). During 2002 and the beginning of 2003, we wrote most of the songs that are in our first auto-produced album, Atmospheres. The rest were adaptations to violin or classic guitar themes that Pablo had written before. We call it an auto-produced album and not a rough cut because it has 10 songs and lasts 48:20 minutes. At the end of 2002, Alfonso left, taking the drum sit Tomeu Crespí. The same way, Juan left the band in the beginning of 2003. Then, Sergio Lorenzo joined the band. Between February and April 2003, we recorded Atmospheres, which is a totally an auto-produced album: from the recording to the artwork, from the masters to the production of the songs, everything done by us. The only exception is the logo (made by José María Valdés), the pictures (taken by Luisa Freaza) and the cover (taken from the internet). The mixing and equalizing process was finished in April 2004. But while doing it, we kept on writing new songs, and making concerts around Valencia. In December 2003 we played at Magos Pub. The concert was organized by Debasement Gigs, an enterprise from Dublin that was looking for bands to play there in summer. The organizer liked a lot what we did, so we were selected. Also, we participated in a competition for new bands called Emergenza, passing the first round and arriving to semifinals. Both concerts were played at Republica II in Valencia.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
