Hey Skip (I remember nickname was bonef*** - LOL) and Steve. My brother Paul was your soundman for a while. I remember seeing you guys play at quite a few bars back then (not "Uncle Charley's" as stated here, but actually "Mountain Charley's Saloon" in Los Gatos). Oh those fun eighties when I was so young and you guys were SO HOT.

i was a bouncer at puma's/smokey mountain club in campbell in the mid 80s...they'd play every month or two, and were always awesome...have two autographed cassettes from them; wore out one of them in my pioneer deck in my 240z from constant playing....

Wow, this band sounds great! I'm 23 and I go to the University of California Santa Barbara. I've had this cool "vintage" tshirt for a few years now. It's light blue and says "Steve One and the Shades". It's practically my favorite vintage shirt, mainly because of the mystery behind who this is (and no one else has a shirt like it). For the longest time, I've been trying to find out who these guys are and now it's nice to know! This music needs to be on itunes. I bet they'd make a lot of money!

Hey - I did a couple of gigs with you guys in the 80s. Gary Craven even played in one of my bands before Steve One. Excellent drummer. Where is he now? Tell him hi from me.

Hahahaha..SKIP!!!! Yep, that's my little brother! And I wholeheartedly agree, those were some of the best times of my life too! We played so many gigs, sometimes 5-6 a week...headlined our own shows, sometimes 2 in one night! And we played so many gigs with so many famous musicians (remember when Todd Rundgren blew up TK's amp?). Co-headlining with Chris Isaak, opening for Montrose, KBC, gigging with the Doobies, on and on...and the rest of our "peers'...Eddie and the Tide, StrayHeart, Mystery Date...some great bands no one ever heard of! And then, at one point, it seemed like we were the kings of the vegetable circuit...The Garlic Festival, The Strawberry Jam, the Burrito Bash, the Rhubarb Hub-bub..whatever. Oh jeeze! All over California, Tahoe, Reno, big clubs, small clubs, pizza joints, fairgrounds, big events, non-events, everything! We were working so hard, and playing endless streams of gigs...getting the giggles onstage...not even being able to look at each other for fear

Hey all... Skip Reilley here, bass player for the "famous" Steve One and The Shades! I didn't remember that my brother Steve had posted our album here, I found the site quite by accident searching for something completely unrelated (gotta love Google!) What a pleasant surprise. It's been many years sine I've heard a lot of these tracks, and I was flooded with wonderful memories listening to them again. Here's my little trip down memory lane: It was actually 1992 when we called it quits for the last time. Over the previous 11 years there had been several different musicians in different positions, which you can imagine created its own unique sound, but the roster of members you hear on these tracks was by far the best line-up in my opinion. While Steve and I were the most constant members (even I left for a while somewhere around ''89-'91), Steve was always the focal point and driving force behind the band. Everything you hear is him. We influenced him, of course, and occasiona
