We Are The Diamond In The Ruff To SoundClick ...............STEREOTYPES................. To make music just to make money wouldn't be satisfying. We want people to look back and say we definitely left our mark in the music industry.Stereotypes There's nothing stereotypical about the Stereotypes. Their backgrounds, their talents nor their sounds can be described as typical and when they come together, they create magic unlike any other producers of their caliber. Hailing from Ohio, a state famous for its industrialization, Bone, Thugs N Harmony and its funk music, 25 year-old Todd Walker and 26-year-old Jose Vazquez were friendly creative rivals who are now one of the hottest, up-and-coming production teams. Even though they both come from different musical backgrounds and have different !--s, both started experimenting with music in their hometown in 1993 with various local acts and working as DJ's/hosts for local radio stations. Todd, the outgoing, charismatic one, started spinning at the early age of seventeen. After winning a DJing battle at a club in Cleveland, Todd started to spin regularly until the natural progression led him to production. Jose, the musically inclined one who was born playing the piano, worked at a Spanish radio station where his father was a host. Although he did the same thing as Todd, juggled musical acts he wasn't happy with life in Ohio. As his rival was already in Florida at an audio college, Jose took a friend's suggestion to move to Florida and unite with Todd to create The Stereotypes. "We've been working as a team for 3 years and a lot of people aren't able to work together, but we compliment each other," Todd explains. As this seemed a match made in production heaven, the Stereotypes were born in 2001 and a couple years later, these young men have gone from a small town in Ohio, to producing two albums and receiving credit in The Source Magazine. Quickly making a name for themselves in a world filled with cookie-cutter music, the Stereotypes plan to bring emotion back into the soul of music and what makes them unique are the different insights they bring to their music. They can finish each other's musical thoughts without ever stepping on one another's toes and Jose doesn't flinch when Todd samples, cuts and recreates a sound to his vision. Nor does Todd blink when Jose splashes a note of keys or soul onto his raw, edgy beats. It's this musical camaraderie and understanding of real music that enables these young lovers of Sade and Prince, Rakim and Hendrix to create the non-stereotypical, beautiful music they craft. Like their icons, the Stereotypes hope to go down in history as great musicians and composers who re-introduced emotion to music. As Jose sees it, "I can guarantee that 20, 30 years from now, people will be sampling our music."
