Stephen is a writer and performer based in Arizona... he has found that the desert is inspiring and helps him to conceive songs that are at once universal, perhaps, but yet deeply personal. Having moved to the southwest after spending most of his life in the midwest, Stephen is striving to find an adequate way of expressing his experience and others views and stories in a distinctly American and contemplative way. He has performed with Over The Rhine, John Wesley Harding, Paul Kelly, Mark Kozelak (of San Fran's Red House Painters), Blue Rodeo, Todd Snider, Sponge, the October Project and Disappear Fear. He is releasing his third release in April '08 on gHoStToWn records entitled, "Gathering Sky" and it includes several songs where Calexico provided the rhythm section, including the forthcoming single, Brand New Man. Stephen writes songs that touch emotion. He writes to connect those feelings that many of us have that isolate us or make us enraged or make us feel alone...
