Band/artist history
Born on Christmas day, in Elgin, IL, Stephanie Harris, the second oldest of four children, immediately began a musical journey that would educate her on the most renown musical traditions, equip her with the highest level of skill, and bring her right back to expressing her own soul with a proficiency and maturity seldom seen in todays artists.
Excited by the classic soul music around her, by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Minnie Ripperton & others, Stephanie was encouraged to use and develop her already obvious talents. At age eight, she was soloing with her church choir, and by the age of 10, young Stephanie started singing with the Elgin Childrens Choir under the direction of Jay Kellner.
At Elgin High School, Stephanie sang with the Chamber Choir and Concert Choirs for four years. Toward the end of high school, she officially began her path to a professional music career by way of classical training from voice teacher, Solange Sior. After preparing for 2 years, Miss Harris began a 5 year stint singing with Solanges opera ensemble Les Voix Enchantees touring the Chicago area performing everything from recitals to leading roles in fully staged operas.
Proving herself to be extremely proficient in her craft, Stephanie began studying Music Vocal Performance for three years at University of Illinois at Chicago under full tuition scholarship, while she also participated in theater productions, opera productions, recitals, masterclasses and University Choir.
Though all of the accomplishments achieved during her years of classical training and performance were nothing less than stunning, Stephanie still found her heart beating to the rhythm of Soul & R&B! The music of her youth, music her family shared; the music of a people, still called to her. After years of soul searching, Stephanie had developed a vision to pursue a career in R&B oriented music! Now, with the skills of a world class Diva, Stephanie steps forward to pay homage to her musical heroines and shows the world how its done!Have you performed in front of an audience?I love singing live and will be performing in showcases soon.
