STAMP COLLECTION SUICIDE comes from Reno, Nevada, emerging from the ashes of several self-destructing projects in true Darwinist fashion. Without going into too much detail, Chris had been singing and playing guitar in a touring pop punk outfit, Pierre had been playing in a power pop band, while Zach and Jared were rocking in a punk band of their own.
These three bands crossed paths several times on the road and in town. Chris, Zach, Jared and Pierre would often discuss how great it would be to start a band with nothing but positive, hard working, motivated, and serious-minded musicians who’d make music their number one priority. As it seemed there was always at least one guy in every band that would not pull his weight or be so self absorbed that he created drag against progress. The opportunity to eliminate this element and solidify the line up came after Pierre heard that Chris had left his band and had started a new project. In fact, Jared and Zach had also left their respective bands and started working on songs, devising and composing material for STAMP COLLECTION SUICIDE- a band where strength of character is as important as musicianship.
SCS builds their songs on a solid foundation of a rhythm between Zach’s bass playing and Pierre’s drumming. Jared and Chris opt for simply powerful and melodic guitar lines in true rock fashion. Chris writes his lyrics from the heart. His words in the song “Lies and Promises” speak to anyone who has been in love and lost, offering empathy and reassurance that the human heart can be resilient. There are also songs such as “All in An Anthem” and “Clench Fist” that reflect on the frustration people experience when they have not achieved all of which they are capable, and how powerful the belief in self-determination can be. The second track “Driver” is a touching song about being on the road and missing the one you love.
If there is one consistent factor to SCS songs, it is that they are honest and derived from true human emotion. The same emotion that spills uncontrollably into every SCS live performance. STAMP COLLECTION SUICIDE was formed in May 2003 and recorded an EP within one month from the day it all started. This is a brand new band formed of experienced musicians under a common goal: 4 guys playing music from the heart, for people with heart. SCS is about honesty, integrity, passion and loyalty. You can hear this in every word, in every note and in every chord of STAMP COLLECTION SUICIDE.Band/artist history
