I am 34 years of age and I currently live in central London where I work in the mental health/supported housing sector.
I used to be the frontman in CopCarPileUp (London based anarcho-punk ska band.....we done a shit load of animal-rights benefit gigs!). Anyways, that lasted only a couple of years. Meantime there had been a load of spoken-word type of guff mulling around in my head. There was only one way to espouse this.....Q-Bass (his surname begins with Q and he plays bass and he records music using Cubase!) a.k.a. Phil Quinton. He was a time-forgotten college pal who formed the marginally successful indie band Monophobia (and also Curried Infancy when he was known as Sicky Hampton!). An engineer of the highest calibre (with a stormin' sense of humour!), this guy helped me create what you now hear (so you can blame him, not just me!).
I had wanted to release a player of various 'punk-poets'. Firstly it dawned on me that I did not actually know anybody doing anything remotely similar to what I was doing. Secondly, it would not be pleasing-on-the-ear to hear me rant for an hour or so. Hence, that is where Q-Bass (from his home studio in Greenford) entered the fray to spice things up (beats, bass, samples and a whole bunch of other stuff I do not understand!)Have you performed in front of an audience?Played live with lots of bands, but not with any of this stuff so far.
What equipment do you use?
Phil uses PC with Cubase SX3, Groove Tubes mic, Mackie mixer and monitors, Oberhiem OB-12 keyboard, Alesis Nanosynth, Behringer mic pre-amp, an old Ibanez bass and (occasionally) an old Tanglewood acoustic 6-string (with a missing g-string).
