Soviet Underdog are heavy weight riff reaching band formed in Liverpool, highly noted for the metal/post grunge style on the local scene. A band not to be missed on any account! Check them out if your in the area... Soviet Underdog genuine goal is to solely create energetic music with raw emotions!!!
Band/artist history
Soviet Underdog are all from Liverpool, and we all share similar interest in music. Formed in February 2003 by Roger Clark(Guitarist) & Mickey Wharton(Singer),after responding to a local ad in the city centre music shop. Then Danny Massey joined about a month later as the Bassist and band was virtually formed, just one important ingredience a drummer, who Soviet finally discover in the March with great success Mike Grainger. Who has highly impressive drumming skills and natural rock rythm that carries the fourth pillar of the Underdogs.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Soviet tends to play at least twice a month, mainly around Liverpool venues (Barfly/Zanzibar/Stamps/Social Clubs/Quiggins etc). We expect to venture out of Liverpool throughtout Britain. It has to be said the shear pleasure to perform to a live audience is amazing, and once we've finished the gig, anticipation grows wild for our next performance, even if it is only a week later...
Your musical influences
Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Bush, Muse, Chris Cornell, Rage, Faith No More, Metallica, Soil, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Pixies & Screaming Trees.
What equipment do you use?
Soviet prefer to use traditional instruments for live music, we total ydespise bands who use samples & synthesizers to hide behind,to us that's not music just a collection of sounds ripping riff and melodies to convert to the own. We can except experimentation in recording to an extent, but not dam right sample lifts & crazy alien music with a beatbox pumping crap. Anyways on to Soviets weaponry: we use a seven piece drum kit, a Marshall Amp & Cab unit (4x12 Inch Spks Stack) used with a Honey comb LES PAUL Gibsons USA brand coupled with a naughty Fender TELECASTER also USA brand. And a Black Bass (BASS COLLECTION) with a rosewood neck gold plated machine heads played throught a new cheeky HARTE BASS Amp & Cab Unit (4x10 Inch spks + 1 Inch Tatanium spk, powers upto 300 watts). The PA Speakers & Microphones we use our provided by the venues or recording studios so mixture of various equipment.
Anything else?
No, I thinks that's it for now!
