Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Sounds-R-Found Productions started in Staten Island, New York on Prospect Ave. I was first taught sampling by Geeby Dajani, one of the founding members of the SD50's (Stimulated Dummies, room 50). I started off with an Akai s612 sampler, a Tascam 4-Track recorder, a Numark mixer with a sampling button, a Gemini mixer with a sampling button, a Korg M1, an MPC60, and a home stereo. I won't mention any of the artists I've worked with here, but there are a few and you've heard the songs. My best piece of equipment is my brain, fed by creativity.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I find and make beats on anything, anywhere.
Your musical influences
My main influence when I sit in the studio is Havoc of Mobb Deep. Yo, Sun has one of the sickest ways of manipulating samples I've ever seen. Mobb Deep is my favorite group, Havoc is one of my favorite producers. Kanye West is next in my top 3 producers. Sun is the Beast of All Beasts when it comes to that MPC. I'm influenced by new sounds.
What equipment do you use?
Right now, I use a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, a Roland VS1880 Digital Recorder, Roland CD-Rack II, Akai MPD18, FL Studio 10 Producer Edition, Adobe Audition CS5, and a s#@&load of VSTs. I have the entire Korg Legacy collection on the computer; basically, the whole studio is on the computer. I store all sounds, mp3s, and records and albums on 2 2TB external hard drives.
Anything else?
I take my time to do my tracks, so the uploading of new material isn't everyday, even my wife keeps telling me to put more there. They're coming, they're coming!! A good track is like a haircut; it's never really finished.
