Soundpropeller
WIDE songs to briefly take the listener somewhere else. Grab a sound, then mix it around...
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Soundpropeller existed in different forms since 1990. Many recordings made in a variety of studio situations, with many guest appearances along the way.
The focus was always on trying to bring out each song's personality and sound, with a healthy disregard for "pop/rock production standards" at the same time, staying clear of pretention and any sort of two dimensional posturing. Making music that is internally genuine, even if - externally - it is a bit odd sometimes, is the focus.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Soundpropeller came about from the death of a band that played live constantly. In the recording studio is where the only live performances have happened.
Your musical influences
Unfortunately for the pigeon-holer types, the truth is that it ends up being music from all ends of the style spectrum. Rock music and songwriting is often the format in which these influences are presented, but loud, swirling guitars aren't ALWAYS the focus. Psychedelia as a style branching off from "radio" rock/pop opened up many possibilities, which is a similar approach, in that anything can happen, musically or in the arrangement/instrumentation, but as a label, it still doesn't fit.
What equipment do you use?
The use of ACTUAL live chimpanzees help to make this band's sound unique, from there, the chimps will use any instrument that will make a noise.
