Soul Pilot
The music we're working on right now is acoustic based with lyrics that touch upon real life situations, or feelings that most people can relate to. We use various people, for various parts ... from a circle of friends. All the basic music is first conceived on acoustic guitar by Doug Dillman.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
A couple of friends that get together and play for fun. If someone else likes it ... that's a bonus.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not at the moment.
Your musical influences
Everyone ... Doesn't matter who is doing the song, or what style ... if it's good & touches me, I'll listen to it.
Anything else?

Description Of The Music:
A melodic and mostly acoustic oriented album, with a Midwestern feel, and heartfelt lyrics.
About The Songs:
1. Life Is - This was the first song written in 1998, shortly after the passing of my Dad. In short Don’t dwell too much on the past and don’t live for the future because the only promise you have is today.
2. Empty Houses - Inspired by my oldest daughter Darian, who at the time was 6. She asked my ex-wife a year after the divorce “Mommy, I know you have your house and Daddy has his, but sometimes I wish we could be together again.” Who loses most in divorce?
3. Around Here - A girl I was seeing from Indianapolis would come to Shelbyville to see me. One day she said, “What is it about this town? When are you gonna’ get out?” This song is my answer to her.
4. Old Mexico - Thommy telling a great story in an old west time setting. Mark and I had a great time layering guitar tracks on this one. Mark laid down some great lead work!
5. Man in the Picture - I was at my Mom’s house going through some old Army pictures of my dad who had passed away about 4 yrs earlier. I took some of my favorites home and Thommy said I should write a song about my dad. Instantly I thought of the man in the picture - my dad. This song also has one of my favorite of Mark’s guitar solo’s on it. It matches the emotion of the lyrics greatly!
6. Haunted - Thommy started singing this melody to me one day and the song was done in about five minutes. A song of lost love and one of my favorite vocal performances on the CD.
7. This is Your Song - The girl I was seeing that inspired “Around Here” also helped inspire this one. I told her I would write her a song. But the song would change daily because it would seem her feelings changed daily - So here is her song! I love the lead section and the guitar synth, Beautiful! Great job by Mark!
8. She’s Gone - Another song of lost love Great lyrics by Thommy, what can I say, the guy’s in a lot of pain. Tammy Coers played a great keyboard solo on this one. I call it the Pink Floyd section. We wrote this one in about 5 minutes also.
9. Beauty Queen - This one was written by Kristina Genung who I met through and ex-girlfriend. We talked about music one day, she said she writes so I invited her down one night. We redid her version and she recorded her original and though they sound very different from each other they are both very beautiful. So we had to put them both on the CD. Adds a different vibe to the CD.
10. Cuntry Luv Song - A little Acoustic and vocal Country song intended to be funny. But the story is real and that ain’t funny!
