Soulganic
Soulganic is an independent Soul quartet that is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. We also liberally infuse Latin, Funk, Rock, Blues and Jazz elements into our music. The band consists of Cory McClure (drums, keyboards), Ryan McKeithan (acoustic and electric guitars, vocals), Anthony Rodriguez (lead vocals, bass guitar), and Lucas Torres (percussion).
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
As mentioned before, we began performing in 2005 with a lineup of keyboard, acoustic guitar, percussion and vocals. At that time our approach was really mellow, really chill and totally organic. As time progressed, our musical vision pushed beyond that format, and we added a drummer, integrated electric guitar, dropped the keyboard from live performances, and continued to diversify our compositions, integrating all the styles we hold dear.
Along the way we've parted ways with some members, added new collaborators and picked up a few local nods, while garnering an international virtual following.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We've played live extensively throughout our history, and it's on stage where our true collaboration, camaraderie and unity were forged. The most special moments have been when we're truly conversing onstage through the music, whether it's when we're locked into a groove, or improvising and feeding off of one another.
Your musical influences
At the core, our influences are life, passion, truth and soul. Whatever those influences bear out, however they chose to manifest themselves, that's where we go musically.
Anything else?
We're just trying to let the music become what it wants to become, and wherever that takes us, that's where we'll go. The future of Soulganic is to build upon what we've established and continue to reach further into the realm of musical
expression.
