Soul Cooper (NZ)
DOUGHBOY RECORDS PRESENT...
Hailing from Napier now based in Wellington, Soul Cooper is a new emerging RnB artist ready to take on NZ.
Look out for the album due for release in 2006!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Just quickly:
1982 - I Was born.
2005 - Still breathing...
Everything that has happened to me in between then whether it was good or bad, has made me who I am.
I'm a very lucky man.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I love playing live. I look forward to doing it more often. So if you want someone to fill in your schedule, if the deal is good then I'm your man.
Special moments: Auckland, NZ - Safari Lounge - Gifted & Maori 2 Album Launch After Party. I performed "CRY" with my homeboy DOUGHBOY. Cry is a song about the loss of one of DOUGHBOY's children & the mother of that child was there & was very emotional. It was a speacial event for me.
Your musical influences
I am into quite a few different types of music & I think this shows in my songs...
Craig David - The reason why I got into songwriting.
The Doobie Bros & The Eagles - My first tastes of music from an early age
All Motown/Soul artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, The Temptations etc...
The old Swingers: Frank, Dean, Nat, Sammy... Ray Charles!!!
Of course,I love the ushers, Boyz II Men, UNV, Joose, Solo, Azyet, Tyrese etc etc...
I'm a big fan of a whole lot of different genres & artists - Except Crazy Frog... and maybe William Hung. lol
What equipment do you use?
My Voice Box & a microphone
An engineer & producer can help sometimes too haha
I am my equipment... (Pardon the pun)
