Your musical influences
Basically everything. Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Jazz, Classical music. Everything I listen to is influencing. Like I may listen to a Bon Jovi song and be like "wow his emotion is really showed in his lyrics." so I would try to incorporate stuff I learn from other music into my lyrics. But the artists I listen to a lot are: Nas, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Eminem, Hoobastank, Fall Out Boy, The Fray, Jedi Mind Tricks, Gym Class Heroes, Common and such. A lot of different types of music from smooth Hip-Hop to punk rock to hyphy and crunk.
But mainly life experiences, the lack of realness in music, and the ignorance of the listeners is what drive me to write.What equipment do you use?
