sounds very latin at first. sono (the sound) - novo (new, unknown): a sounddesigner?
is it possible to invent sounds, can sounds be 'new' ?yes,
the ulm/germany-based artist andreas usenbenz actually approaches his music
as the passionate search for the yet undiscovered sounds hidden
within him. they seem to be waiting to be fetched and transformed into narrative,
almost lyrical compositions. 'sonovo' stands for contemplative,
experimental music, trying to give the audience some "time for rest, inspiration,
reflection and interpretation".
sonovo's artistic development started out in a rather 'analog' domain,
as a guitarist and a singer/songwriter.
more and more his equipment changed into electronics giving him the freedom to focus on himself,
on his senses.deliberately and sometimes playfully he makes 'his' sounds take shape
and perpetually arranges them to new sequences.disclosed from his inner world
a distinctive style is created, a flow of emotions.sometimes when communicating
with the all but dreary synthetic sounds wide landscapes unfold with plains to stroll along.
and sometimes sonovoleads us to the small and minute moments of reflectiveness.
within the blink of an eye his microcosm of electronic sounds comes to life.
allthose scurrile sounds and waves are tangible at once,
starting to communicate with each other and pulling the listener deeper and deeper
into their round dance.
sonovo's music takes us on a discovery quest into the hidden corners of our emotions.
engaging in this, we might find the unknown sounds within us, echoing
his sounds, the sounds of which we did not know before they exist.
