Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Founded in 2000, Soldier Squad is a Hip-Hop movement that originated in Pennsylvania and is making its way across the globe by any means necessary. Through the use of digital outlets such as Myspace and good ol’ fashion word of mouth, the movement that originated in the Reading, Allentown and Bethlehem areas of Pennsylvania serves as breath of fresh air to the hip hop community. Not since the golden ages of hip hop have we seen a collective that consistently presents a brand of music that continues to transcend the simple and redundant formula that is dominating today’s hip hop music scene. With the ability to address relevant topics such as poverty, racism, and politics, SS’s sometimes playful, but always lyrical records, teach but never preach. With the motto “Music for the People,” it is no wonder why music lovers of all ages find Soldier Squad’s music relatable and worth checking out on Myspace, where they receive upwards of three hundred plays a day. Currently the Squad is working on their official mixtape, while meticulously giving away free copies of their unofficial mix tape, “P.A.’s Best Kept Secret” all over Pennsylvania.
