We're Sold as Slaves From Telford, Shropshire England, enjoy our music m/.Band/artist history
Pete Heywood (bass) and Kenny Partridge (guitar) got together in Spring 2001 and started jamming on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, writing songs and playing covers. In the summer of 2002, Smudge came on the scene with some kickass lyrics and a hardcore sound to go with Pete and Kenny's wicked tunes. Several drummers came and went James being the first before sticksman Doug Gunter joined Sold As Slaves in early 2003. Didgeridoo player Andy Howie had also joined the line up shortly before. On the 22nd March 2003, the band recorded their first 11 track demo in 8 hours, entitled "A Finger of Smudge" with songs such as "Sold as Slaves", "Lived A Lie", "Wasted", "Trust", and a crowd favourite '"Pussy". April saw Sold As Slaves Live Debut, appearing in the Battle of the Bands at The Millhouse in Telford. The band have played numerous other gigs during 2003, including Wolverhampton University Telford Campus, The Morris Hall in Shrewsbury, on the 15th November we played The Haygate in Wellington and Big Baggies in Wrexham on the same night, which was certainly an experience, as we were only asked about the Wrexham gig 15 minutes before going on at The Haygate and the Van broke down in Wrexham, thank you AA for getting the van and gear back on the Sunday.
We have since Travelled to Bath Several Gigs in Telford and Back to Wrexham this year.
