Timothy [Servant of God] G. Baker, better known as S.O.G. is a simple name for a simple servant that was given simple instructions: to spread the gospel of Jesus-Christ as his LIFE calling.
The Mission
His primary mission is to bring the word of God to the world through songs, inspired by biblical stories and life situations. Also, to demonstrate the freedom of salvation [pardon of sins] amongst your peers.
Without seeking a position or the approval of man, S. O. G. is one of the many vessels God speaks through from a non-denominational standpoint to touch the lives of those saved and unsaved. With S. O. G.s knowledge of the word of God, gospel music, and rap music, he combines all three to reach many crowds .
S.O.G. has proven the weapons of praise as he ministers the Wisdom of God through rhythmic flows to bridge the gap between youth and their elders. How? S.O.G. feels the Holy Spirit speaks the message relevant to all that hear, not just the young or the old. His music sets the atmosphere for all to come and fellowship together as one. S.O.G.s aim is to go wherever the Lord leads him and to touch as many lives as the opportunity affords him.
First Step
S.O.G. started rapping at Lincoln High where he first performed on stage for his schoolmates and teachers. Timothy was not S.O.G. yet or you could say he didnt know it at the time. Timothy went by the name Pharaoh while he mastered his style and flow. He worked with a local DJ, Tommyboy, in the basement making mix-tapes for fun on instrumentals. As time moved on rapping slowed down but still the passion was there. One night at a youth service, Timothy was shocked to see a young man by the name of True Knowledge rapping at the front of his church, West Oak Lane Church of God, Incorporated. Right then Timothy knew that he had found something or something found him that would make a huge impact on his life. The next Sunday after church, a few guys went to the car to listen to some gospel hip hop. It was in the car, Timothy said his first Christian rhyme for a member of the Tribe of Judah (Clay).
That day Timothy went home and prayed to God to speak through him and to guide his footsteps. That day Pharoah died and S.O.G. was born.
Since then S.O.G. has performed at the annual WDAS 105.3FM/1480AMUnity Day and other festivities with HanSoul & the Tribe of Judah, local churches with Tony Moore & JC, Society Park, TWise, Robert Hodge, Jude Gavin, TrueKnowlege, JaphiaLife & many more. As a solo artist, S.O.G. has performed in Churches & clubs in Washington, D.C.,V.A.,N.Y.C., Baltimore M.D., as well as, his home town Philadelphia, PA at Warmdaddys and Bluezettes.
S.O.G. has put out mixtapes with Wisemen Inc., ArmsOut Entertainment, and TonyMoore.
