Anthony Melas, an individual that can never miss his target, also known as Sniper, is one of Europes hottest Hip Hop and R&B producers on the come up. He has worked with the crème de la crème of both UK and US acts.
Sniper is both a super producer and a mc. He was associated with the success of the platinum selling So Solid Crew (They Dont Know) in 2001 as one of their djs and he has also produced three tracks and rhymed on two on their second album in 2003 which includes the track 2nd Verse which was the B-side track on the UK chart toping no.9 Broken Silence in 2003.
His debut appearance as an mc came in 2003 with the Oxide & Neutrino track Super Sensi which was included on their second album 2 Stepz Ahead where Sniper flows the chorus in his native greek language!
Sniper has also produced for Freeway and Juelz Santana (Roc-A-Fella Records), and has remixed the Cassius Henry single The One featuring Freeway and Kanye West. Sniper has also worked with Memphis Bleek, N.O.R.E (Roc-A-Fella Records) and Copywrite(Def Jam).
His production company, La Familia Entertainment, reflects Snipers backround and lifestyle. Brought up in a hard working family, Sniper was involved in the family businesses from a young age. Today the Melas Family stands tall and connected with a number of successful businesses under their umbrella both in Cyprus and Greece, including Europes largest themed waterpark, Waterworld, and the night clubs Black & White and Club Ice.
Black & White Europes legendary Hip Hop and R&B club, established since 1985, was very influential to Sniper when developing his talent for music. It was here that he came to see what was hot and what was not in terms of the crowd and here that he felt the influence of American Hip Hop and R&B.
Napa Radio, was where Sniper started his first radio show at the age of ten. Over the past years he has been a great influence to the music culture on the island of Cyprus, representing his country all the way.
Napa Radio is also part of the Melas corporation.
La Familia Entertainment, is also home to up and coming talent in the music industry and home to large scale concerts and parties worldwide including Jay-Z in London (Twice as Nice) all the way back to Ayia Napa with Napa Connection parties.
In 2004 Sniper came in contact with Bee High and they put together the first Roc-A-Fella show in Cyprus, Memphis Bleek was the person for that job alongside Dj DonDeMarco, Sniper and Murder. July 23rd was hip hop history for Ayia Napa since Bleek was the first American artist to ever touch down on the island. It was all family . . . and Bee High was the right person to take Sniper beats to the next level, Bee High manages acts like Memphis Bleek, Copywrite, and Denim. In the beginning of 2005 Sniper carried on making history when he appeared in Nicosia (The capital of Cyprus) alongside Copywrite who was on the island working on his debut album with Sniper.
