SlowburnAZ
Established in Tucson, AZ in late 1999, Slowburn has released a live CD (Slowburn LIVE), a tribute to 9/11 victims and their families (Ghost Town) and an EP (About F*ing Time). While trends and fads came and went, Slowburn stuck to their passion: Loud, Angry Love Songs. Classified with other rock bands like: Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and Burden Brothers, Slowburn has fused together the fundamentals of rock music. Twitch Jones (vocals), Mike Fielder, (guitar), Vince Pinedo (guitar), Chris Turner (bass), and Rick Morales (drums) are determined to bring the desire, intrigue and excitement back into the mainstream rock band.
Influenced by such artists as: Social Distortion, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Slowburn inflicts an alternative-punk-rock aural assault. A difficult band to classify, they're not hard-core, they're not screamo, they're not quite punk. In fact, these guys had to create a new genre, they call it ... Lover-Core.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Slowburn started as the brainchild of a disgruntled audio engineer named Mike Fielder. Who after several failed attempts to take over the world, decided that he would try again through the world of rock music.
He contacted ex-partner in crime and computer genius, Chris Turner, to aid in his cause, and while searching for weak willed local talent that he could control, he stumbled upon a misguided, frustrated, pretty-boy - Twitch Jones. Mike realized that with his brains and Twitch's stunning body and stage presence he might just yet see his dreams of world domination come true, he quickly moved in on Twitch and using his Jedi mind powers won him over to his cause.
A new force was now born and the three power hungry fools set off on a quest to find the perfect drummer. Which led to another quest for a drummer, yet again leading to another quest for a drummer, but that's all a story in itself...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, of course. We mainly play in Tucson, but we are working on some out of town gigs. Slowburn loves the stage we have some very loyal fans who make it all worth it. A special moment, SHEEP, need I say more.
Your musical influences
Social Distortion, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimmy Eat World, Tool and on and on. It's almost eaiser to list who we aren't influenced by. Each of us has our own style of music that we really get off on and that's what we bring to the band. The music that we all listen to covers the spectrum from the rawest garage indie punk rock to full on over-produced progressive rock orchestrations. Our biggest influence is probably our desire to succeed and blow the audience away. We treat each show like our last and each note like it's the last one we'll play. Other influences are hot women, tattoos and alcohol!
