Slingstone is made up of 5 family members and an outside drummer. Our heart is to follow Christ's example in Isaiah 61 - The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners. (paraphrased) We seek to break down the barriers between God and his people so that they can receive an outpouring of His love and mercy into their lives. Worship has this kind of power.
Band/artist history
We're family - we've been together for a long time good and bad. This band though, Slingstone, is a new thing God has been doing with us. We each have our individual part to play, and when we each do it, flowing in the anointing God give us for each part . . . well, it's just been awesome to watch God's plan unfold. We couldn't have done any of it without His ever present grace!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We will play anywhere God opens the door! Playing live is our specialty - we want to bring the annointing of God's Spirit into peoples' lives.
Your musical influences
Our music has so much variety that this is really a tough one! Travis (one of our lead vocalist and guitarist) brings country, bluegrass and rock influences. Jason (our phenomenally talented lead guitarist) thrives on classic rock (80's licks) and worship music, Jennifer (the other lead singer) can belt out blues, sound like Jewel or Norah Jones and bring you to tears with her worship ballads. We have one song "Jericho" that sounds like something from Santana and others that sound more like the Spindoctors. One even reminds us of "Whitesnake". So whatever you like, you'll probably find at least one of our songs to enjoy.
Anything else?
Our biggest lesson so far has been the power of faith. When things seem like they're hopeless and we're never going to get this thing together, we just have to keep plugging on, choosing to believe in it, knowing God has a plan that goes beyond the everyday struggles. We have to keep our hope high and our faith in Him.
