Sledku is: Jaws Williams - Guitars, Thumper Lewis - Bass, Spanky Parsons - Vocals, Sid Schryver -
Drums, Sleddie Slash - 100% Overpowering Lead Guitar. Electronic Mixing by Jaws Williams and Thumper LewisBand/artist history
Starting in 1986 as a garage band named The Summit and later named Fresh Tar, the band has reunited without keyboardist Dartie Neff, and formed a new supergroup called Sledku in 2003. In the 80's, we rocked everywhere from the Kenzle Palace, Concrete Ducks Moonshine Bar, IROC House of Pain, The Scarlet Castle, Toppers Annex, Bugs Beer Cellar, and other Southside Columbus legendary
hangouts! We are a fusion of blues, bluegrass, rock, and egos, while specializing in disrespecting mothers and each other. Our music style varies. We create tunes that are a mix of
blues/rock/funk/country/punk/electronic music. We recorded South of 197 in 2003 and plan on doing something new in fall of 2006.Have you performed in front of an audience? We just get together and play together occasionally. Most of our music is made up and recorded the same day. We have played live in separate bands, but not together as Sledku. It has been 3 years (2003) since we have recorded anything together as a group. We are discussing doing an acoustic project this fall. I just need to find time to come down from Michigan to make it happen. This should be really good!
Your musical influences
Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Tony Rice, Rush, Yes, The Police, The Cure. What equipment do you use?
We use Delsonic and Gibson Les Paul guitars, Fender bass, Pearl drums, and the Yamaha RY20 drum machine for our "electronic" music.Anything else?
The band Sledku's initial CD release "South of 197" was completed and was released in August 2003. We are currently working on a project called "Wax Museum" featuring the tunes "I Want My Records Back" and "Barefoot, Halter-Top, and Daisy-Duked". Real life work schedules have put a damper on the time used to create new music for Wax Museum, but we plan on finishing Wax Museum with some acoustic tracks in fall 2006. "Brother Can You Close The Door" written by Sid Schryver should be the highlight of the next session.
Sledku consists of former members of the Summit/Fresh Tar, the mid-80's garage band which made popular such hits as Mouthfull of CXXX Juice and Shake It Baby. The members are playing under the aliases for Thumper Lewis, Spanky Parsons, Sid Schryver, Sleddie Slash, and Jaws Williams. The band reunited for a marathon recording session recently. It was their first time playing together since 1988 on a recording that has circulated for years in bootleg form known as the "Summit New Years Eve '88 Jam".
The new release features the songs "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and "White Hair Lady", currently available at the www.virtualradio.net (click on Sledku Music link to go there) and MP3.com websites. Also on the release are various rehersal versions of the two new songs along with several classic rock hits, outtakes, and even rap songs are to be included as well. A wide range of musical styles which reflect the variety of influences and the versatility of Sledku.Hi !
Nice and catchy music you have !
When you have some time please go check out some of our music as well :)Man, this is the closest thing I've heard to music so far. It sounds original, the vocals aren't great, but their not bad, and overall it sounds real. Much better than the karaoke I've heard on most of the rest of the site.I can's believe I still do this ....
