Sleazy Joe
This is our tribute to Rock N' Roll. The music comes from our heart and the inspiration from the tru Rock N' Roll heroes.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I guess it all started back in the seventies and took a big step in the eighties. I'm of course talking about rock. But not just rock. It's as much sleaze. Some glam. Not to forget punk. And rock n' roll. Bands that lived the rock n' roll life style in the seventies and eighties sure laid way for most bands active today. Back then there was the first punk band, Ramones. Glam was more the way to go for Kiss. Mötley Crüe took care of the sleaze bag together with Guns N' Roses. The rock n' roll belonged to AC/DC and the heavy metal to Iron Maiden. This has led to more recent bands like Backyard Babies, Foo Fighters, Hardcore Superstar and Green Day. Bands that carry on the flag. The flag of rock.
All this somehow was mixed up with four guys from Sweden, growing up with the shared interest of rock and everything about it. One late Christmas day in 2004 Johnny and Joe got together and during 12 hours wrote, recorded and mixed what later on would become the first song for Sleazy Joe. After had played the song for family and friends it was obvious that there had to be an outcome of this song. So Kim, who was an old friend from earlier bands and late night pizza-meetings, was asked to play bass. Without hesitation he was in. Somewhat later the band got hold of Steven and asked him to come over to the studio for some coffee and a chat. This coffee break resulted in Sleazy Joe. The band was complete.
During 2005 and first half of 2006 Sleazy Joe wrote a bunch of songs and played there first show ever as support act for Hardcore Superstar the 1st of April 2006. This show was when it took of. Directly after the show the band was asked to do some newspaper interviews and a couple of days later there was a call from Sweden Rock Festival. Sleazy Joe was asked to play on the Rocklassiker stage as the first unsigned band ever. Yet a couple of days later the band was contacted by the S!esta Festival and played at the indoor stage on the last day of S!esta. That summer Sleazy Joe also played at Festivaldax in Hässleholm. Simultaneously there was the recording of the first EP. The recording took a lot longer then planned and wasn't finished until early 2007.
That's the story so far. There is more to come...
