Why go with challenging music, rather than easily accessible, conventional/traditional expectations? I ask to this, why waste my energy producing the same expected shit? Why not do your own thing and fuck all the rest? Here to share the ideas, rants and sounds of a sound engineer gone aggro Skumnation as of 2009, is just me.
Band/artist history
a DIY "studio-only" (at-the-moment) project. Originally formed in 2002 as a means of learning to sound engineer, and working with a close friend in electronic project A Kog in the Machine. Grew into a creative (and general noise outlet) beast of its own, and a means of inspiring others, not just to be heard, but that you can go farther than you think, even with no band members, very limited gear, no promotion/radio play/gigs, or even talent. All you need is arms, voice, a good ear, a brain, and CREATIVITY.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Not yet, studio-only for now
Your musical influences
SKMN takes the obscure, unconventional (and sometimes unlistenable) yet abrasive path of fusing influences from 80s industrial/noise music, grindcore, metal, punk among others into a rambling shrapnel bomb of drum beatings, samples, riffs and the usual bitching. Subject matter ranges from occasional social commentary/political to tongue-in-cheek crap.
What equipment do you use?
Guitar hell: BC Rich Beat hell: Roland R-8 mkII, hammerhead Others: random fx pedals, filters, magix, acid pro word hell: cheapo mic, fx pedals
Anything else?
always down for splits or collabs
