Why limit yourself to subculture and scenes. Imagine no phonetic laws. Call him what you want spoken word artist, sound scientist, indie emcee. Skinfiltr8r is a virtuoso vocalist layering his voice with pedals (boss loopstation)adding coincidental sounds (hitting a shoe on the mic as bassdrum). Anything genre goes from soundscape to hip hop, from emo to jazz. Rooted in melancholy, improvisation and rhythm. Since the pedals everything he has ever done comes together in diverse but unique sculptures of sound. Although layering voices and effects enables Skinfiltr8r to be independent now, he occasionally improvises with a dj, guitarist or band.Band/artist history
The name skinfiltr8r was born in 2002. After a long history of emceeing (eyedeeh) in jazzed up hip hop band Vorm (finals GPNL 2000)and Antitoxin (never dies!) I wanted to move forward and concentrated on writing. Challenging myself not to be limited by easy AABB rhymes and exploring poetry or spoken word. Ive done some experiments with sampling in the past on my Roland W30 and akaiMPC2000 but the things warCant pigeonhole it anymore since it ranges from sing/songwriter, poetry to hip hop.Your musical influences
hiphop, indie, emo, sing/songwriter, fusion, spoken word, hardcore(punk), jazz, the hundreds of vinylrecords ive bought thinking I would sample them all sometimes, and what not? As long as it is sincere and from a pure artistic heart.Admin
