Six Easy Pieces

Six Easy Pieces is a four piece, female fronted rock band with rock, folk, pop, blues influences. All good friends with crude senses of humor, 6ep has been together for the better part or 7 years. Hooky, catchy songs with meaningful lyrics is their cup of tea. Along with the occasional funked up jazzy rock song for grins and good times.

Sonny and Julie began this crazy, wonderful journey some 7 years ago when they started writing songs and playing local open mics, just the two of them, two microphones, Julie's voice, and Sonny's guitar. If you add up all the pieces to that duo, sometimes you get the number 6. Over the last several years, those 6 easy pieces multiplied into two more people, several more instruments, more mics and equipment, etc. Instead of changing the name to fit the number, it was decided that Six Easy Pieces was to stay as is. If the band ever gets up to 6 members, everyone will say, "Oh, nowww it makes sense." Julie Mayne (vocals,rhythm g.), Sonny Bihl (lead g.,backup vocals), and Joe Barschow (drums) perform regularly around Austin at venues such as Momo's, The Saxon Pub, Hickory Street Bar and Grille, and more. Now joined by Barton Bowers, formerly of Gravity Test, 6ep is booking shows for the summer and working on getting their first full length CD released. Six Easy Pieces is committed to writing and performing songs that are true to them and their fans. Crafting and sharing music is the dream, excitement, and reality 6ep loves putting their energy and drive towards.

Yes, as much as possible. All around central Texas but primarily in Austin. Which is a double edge sword. There are so many bands here. So its easy to get a show, but trying to draw a crowd when there are 20 to 30 shows on your random Tuesday night can be tricky.

We're not like every other band. You'll find it a little difficult to classify us but easy to listen to us. We're not different like every other band is different, we're actually different. We don't shadow other bands successes, we create music because we love it.
