Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The exploration formerly and presently known as Silent Tongue began in 2001 as a solo studio project. Over the course of the following two and a half years, two LPs and one EP were produced. Pacify the Time was released in the summer of 2002 as a low-fi recorded, well-crafted, lyrically triumphant post-punk rock record that haunts both production purists and routine-life accepters. A few months following Pacify, the Suburban Homesick Cowboy EP marked a change in style. The dominantly acoustic EP harbors complex chord progressions that appear surprisingly inviting, yet alienating at the same time.
Early 2004 marked a change for Silent Tongue, as it became a two piece project. A live act featuring drums, guitars, and sequencers hit the local NYC scene. Nearly at the same time, the last solo production, I Sold Myself to Myself was released to the disturbance and acclaim of music critics. This love/hate album has fostered strong reactions from the music community. Some people instantly are captivated by the undulating sounds and intriguing melodies. Others are instantly confused, finding themselves questioning what genre applies to the songs.
Presently, we find Silent Tongue releasing a new EP that was recorded at Big Blue Meenie Studios (Thursday, Taking Back Sunday). The EP, Everybodys Scared of Being Vulnerable, was engineered by the young and talented Adam Batman Hagger and was mixed by Tim Gilles and Adam Hagger. ESBV marks a transition to a more rock-based sound, while maintaining an unorthodox approach to writing pop songs. The Silent Tongue chords are strongly apparent and the lyrical mastery remains meaningful and thought provoking.
