Sidney Earl Goodroe
Sidney Earl Goodroe is a musician, engineer, and producer. I reside in Macon, Georgia. I have been composing and recording music for some 40 years. Classical music training began at age 7. I picked up guitar at age 12. I began playing in dance bands about age 14. By the time I was 17, I was already involved in opening shows for some of the better known Capricorn Record artists. Tragicly, when time came for me to sign my own deal, Capricorn had to file bankruptcy and shut down. But, I moved on with a deal with Albert Drake in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I ended up doing some studio work for CBC. I came back to the States and started touring all over. Suffering from road burnout, I came home to Macon. I am now married and settled down, but, I own my own studio and freelance for all sorts of projects.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have played live most all my life. There is a magic in the air when you are really on for a night. My favorite night was playing keys for a Gladys Knight project.
Your musical influences
Any and all jazz players. I greatly admire The Police and now Sting as a solo artist. Bob Marley, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Beethoven, Mozart, TOO MANY TO LIST!
What equipment do you use?
The list is far too long to go into. My studio is based on Samplitude, Cakewalk, and Mixbus, a pair of Studio-Capture interfaces that allow me 32 channels in and 20 outs, a MOTU 24io, and an Asus Quad 64 bit Windows 10 computer, and a Toshiba laptop for mobility. I use an M-Audio Keystation 88 Pro for my midi controller. I have collected a large and variable array of amps, guitars, mics, mixers, and 6 racks of outboard studio gear. Although, most everything is done in the box now.
Anything else?
Most of what you hear on this material is all me. I wrote, arranged, engineered, and performed everything. These songs are songs that are very personal demos. I am proud to let them finally be heard. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the torment of bringing them to you.
I hope to be posting some new material after the first of the year! Stay tuned!!!
