Shrapnel Band

With everyone in the band having many influences different from one another, how would they be able to sit in a basement and jam to a riff, and have most of a song done 15 minutes later? With little arranging and easily written lyrics, you get a song that has influences of Slayer, Tool, Slipknot, Metallica and more crammed into one song. Everybody in the band contributes their own parts to create what they think will sound right. The members in the band have a great artistic ability to be able to contribute equal amounts to each song. It is rare to find a group of people who are able to play so easily with one another. It is in this group of 16 and 17 year old kids from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood that you find musicians who work off of each others influences to create a new sound. There aren't many bands out there that can incorporate most types of metal and a little hardcore into one song and make it flow. Each song the band writes is very unique and it's influences are difficult to pinpoint. Because there are many different types of vocal apporaches to every song, there is something everyone will like if into heavy music. From fast, screaming vocals to slow, melodic singing, we cover just about everything in the metal genre. We look up to the older local bands that we see playing which are mostly Death Metal and some hardcore. Even though we are 7 to 8 years younger than them, we hope that they can appreciate what we are doing. We work an estimated time of 12 hours a week writing songs and jamming to different riffs. We are Shrapnel: a band where the members are on the same page all the time, letting the music do the talking for us.
