Story behind the song
It was 2009 a year after Obama took office. And two of the members of Lenetown 8 noticed Obama wasn't any different. I mean look at the state sanctions violence under his administration. Doesn't matter if the boot is Republican or Democrat. Its still a boot.
Lyrics
**Verse 1** They sold us dreams laced with venom in the bloodstream, Told us we were free while they plot behind the smoke screen. History books written by the hands of thieves, Propaganda in the air that the masses breathe. From the slums of the globe to the corporate towers, They weaponize the poverty, consolidate the power. Cops patrol the block like the Gestapos ghost, They lynch us in the dark, then toast with the most. The IMF loans come with razor blades, They build prisons, not schools, for the plans they made. Topple nations, replace em with puppets on strings, A symphony of chaos while the fat cats sing. **Chorus** Its chains and mirrors, illusions and pain, They profit off our misery, bloodstains remain. Its the lies that divide us, the truth that unites, Revolution in the shadows; we ignite the night. **Verse 2** They got us chasing wealth, but its monopoly money, While the CEOs laugh, counting blood-stained honey. Divide and conquerit's the oldest trick in the book, They sell us skin color to keep the masses shook. Black sites hidden, rendition flights land, Freedoms just a slogan in the empires hand. Every wars a racket, Smedley said it best, But they still draft the poor while the rich invest. Pharmaceutical cartels flood the streets with pills, Turn addiction into profit, watch the empire build. They televise the riots but never the cause, And call the victims criminals to justify their laws. **Chorus** Its chains and mirrors, illusions and pain, They profit off our misery, bloodstains remain. Its the lies that divide us, the truth that unites, Revolution in the shadows; we ignite the night. **Bridge** Im the voice of the child born in a war zone, The tears of the mother whos left to mourn alone. The ghost of the soldier sent to fight for a lie, The rage in the youth staring death in the eye. Capital feeds on the flesh of the weak, While the medias complicit, they dont dare speak. But silence is a weapon, and the truths a grenade, Pull the pin, watch the empires charade cascade. **Outro** So stand tall, break the mirrors, shatter the chains, Let the flood of revolution purify the stains. This aint just a song; its a battle cry, For the nameless, the faceless, who refuse to die.
