Shadow Demon formed in early 2002, bringing together guitarist Jeff Helm and vocalist Blaine Hammond. After working with other area musicians, bassist James Rinker was brought into the fold.

The trio recruited studio musicians to release their three-song EP in December of 2003. Soon after the EP's release, veteran drummer Will Anderson and lead guitarist Mike Lewin offered their services as performance musicians. Shadow Demon made their live debut in January at the 2004 Seattle Power Prog Fest and played shows until that June with this line-up.

After a seemingly endless search, the band added drummer Jay Davidson to the lineup. Jay has fit in well with the rest of the band, and when people hear Jay with Shadow Demon they will agree.

The band is currently writing material for their first full-length album, due for release later this year. Confirmed for the recording will be past Shadow Demon guitarist Tim Diedrich who can also be heard playing leads on their debut EP.
