Sevn Kencaid

Many want to know where does this artist get the name Sevn Kencaid.It was chosen by the artist himself at 17 after realizing that alot of things in his life occured on the number 7 such as his birthday Oct.7th,his father's birthday October 17th,his mother's birthday May7th, and her mother's birthday May the 7th with many other events that come to mind of this artist also occured on something to do with a 7.The number 7 is God's chosen divine number and a number of completion & Kencaid is taken from Scottish term which is defined as top authority/in charge. Put it all together and you get Sevn Kencaid"GODS CHOSEN ONE TO BE IN TOP AUTHORITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO MAKING REAL MUSIC AND MAKING THIS MUSIC GENERATION COMPLETE"Texas born and raised, Sevn Kencaid brings a new style of music to the World with his soulful/gospel-influenced yet smooth vocals on R&B trax and raspy earcatching voice on hiphop trax!He started singing in church with the youth choir at three yrs old whith his grandmother which influenced the gospel part of him. He was also influenced by his parents and the wax and 8trax they listened to in the 80's. Sevn recalls them singing to the records and trax of Michael Jackson,Al Green Sad'e Peabo Bryson ,Freddie Jackson,Anita Baker,Levert and many more. Sevn comes from a background where when you gathered for reunions and holidays all his Uncles would gather the family around the piano and sing covers by the Temptations Jackson5,the Miracles and other great Musicians wich also plays a major role in this artists aspiring to entertain through music. On top of that, he watched every move and listened to every note that Micahel Jackson made on Video Soul (the late 80's-mid 90's version of 106th &Park) and any other televised special that he was featured on inspiring him to write his first song "Birds and Bee's" at 11 years old influenced by Jackson's The way yu make me fell but what 80's baby didn't wanna be like Mike when they were a kid?!! Sevn then began to write more songs and would use the instrumentals from cassette singles and learned how to dub background vocals and ad-libs on a Kareoke Machine that his parents got him for his 12th birthday! He wrote and recorded six songs and submitted a demo tape to several record labels in California and Georgia where he sparked the interest of two A&R directors Leland Davis of Showtime Ent. (Los Angeles.Ca) and Carmen Rios of Grassroots Recordings (Atlanta,Ga) but was left with a broken heart from broken promises. However, he never gave up he continued to sing in Choir in school and church.At the age of 15 and looking up to singing groups such as Boyz 2 Men BBD Another Bad Creation and a local quintet called "Fab 5" he and childhood friends Marcus and his brother Donavon Banks started a R&B/HipHop trio and later added Sevn's cousin Roland Howell wich made up the founding members of the boyband Passion wich indicated their Love and Passion for music. With Howell leaving the group due to creative differences and Donavon got incarcerated Kencaid and Banks performed as a duo shortly until a second line up with childhood friend Will Lee and Banks' cousin Tyrone Mclaughlin added new direction and sound to the Quartet and to resolve all problems everyone got a chance to sing lead. They sought after a local producer Sydney Jackson (father of Hiphop/R&B recording artist Sintree) to produce and manage them. Due to creative differences and his shorterm sentence the group disbanded.Sevn later was asked to be the fourth member of Supreme Records R&B Quartet Imaje ( pronounced Image). He sang and wrote songs with the group for six years singing 2nd lead and later left the group due to irreconcilable differences with Supreme Records C.E.O. Jamaal Williams and one of the group members. This brings us to now. Breaking out as a solo artist,Sevn has new directions and messages to share with the world."I desire to make music that brings back that feeling when music had the world falling in&out of love and feeling good,music that has meaning"!! With the music influences,motivation,creativity and energy that he supplies I guarantee that he will soon be a house hold name.He is currently converting to Gospel writing for other artist and planing to go in the studio to work on his Gospel debut wich is due to be released later in 2014 keep your eyes and ears opened.

I'm an Inspired 80's baby when the decade for some of the Greatest music was born!!!

I do perform live.I love it.A special moment I recall was getting a standing ovation and an encore as a solo artist opening up for someone else.

First I would have to say my parents because it was always some music playing in the 8 track player or on the record player or the television was on B.E.T.'s 80's show called "Video Soul" with Donnie Simpson and Sherry Carter.I am influenced by many of the greats Ray Charles,Marvin Gaye,Nat King Cole,Michael & Janet Jackson,Al Green,Patti Labelle,Kool&the Gang,Sam Cooke,Aretha Franklin,Stevie Wonder,Ella Fitzgerald,Tina Tuner,The Isley Bros.,Zapp&Roger,Jodeci,Silkk,EnVogue,R.Kelly,Jaheim,Lyfe Jennings,and too many others to name.LOL.
