Selah Instrumentals
Selah Instrumentals is a collection of artists dedicated to excellence in discipline, musicianship and devotion to God. Comprised of a handful of the most learned song leaders, elders, ministers of music and psalmists, we strive to bring only the best to Black Gospel listeners who desire ministry rather than performance.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Each of our musicians are on staff of some of the most recognized denominational and nondenominational churches throughout Texas.
Your musical influences
Each of our artists has their own individual influences: ranging from J-baby's classic sounds (reminiscent of Gospel's earliest pioneers such as Roberta Martin, Mahalia Jackson and Dorothy Love Coates) to Elder Taylor's contemporary approach, in the style of Hezikiah Walker, Kurt Carr and Smokie Norful.
What equipment do you use?
As we are most comfortable recording in a church setting, rather than a studio, most of our recordings are created, edited and mastered in-home using Cakewalk's Sonar 3 recording suite.
Anything else?
Due to the overwhelming e-mails asking our ages: all of our members are between the ages of 19 and 25.
In addition, yes it is true that some of our members have Ph.D.s in Theology.
Also, in addition: none of our members desire to be secular artists, so please stop asking.
