Secret Rivals of Lama
2 Norwegian musicians from the same little town form a band. Inspired by such genious artists as Jaga Jazzist , Lars Horntveth , Xploding Plastix and Tortoise among others , they start recording some tunes. And those tunes are the one you should be listening to right now.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We are 2 18 year old musicians from Norway. We have known eachother for about 2-3 years now , and both of us like the same kind of music. One day i (sax player and programmer) walked up to Mr. Trumpet and asked him if he wanted to make some music in my studio , and right then Secret Rivals of Lama was created.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We would like to play live. But it's not long since we started Secret Rivals of Lama. No offers yet , but we would like to. Anywhere :)
Your musical influences
the all time idol is Lars Horntveth. now thats a genious for you! His solo-album Pooka changed many things for me. Its terrific. Other sources of inspiration and influence is Jaga Jazzist , Lars Horntveth's band , Xploding Plastix ; great electro-ish band from Norway . Nils Petter Molvær is a huge inspiration for at least one of us :) so he goes on to this list too . And lately , bands like Air , Ralph Myerz and Tortoise has made me think.
What equipment do you use?
Computer running Logic (wheres the #%#% upgrade EMAGIC! sellouts!! hehe). In logic , kontakt running diverse plugins. I love Native Instruments Syntetik Drums , and Spectrasonics Atmosphere.
StudioProjects B1 mic , and an Art Preamp. ... and so on ..
