
Second Thought
Ross Baker is a composer and musician from the UK who has worked under the name Second Thought since 1999.
Second Thought's music combines electro-acoustic, contemporary classical, ambient and IDM styles and is distinctive for its focus on piano and field recordings.
Between 2004 and 2011, five albums were released, each soundtracking a particular imaginary landscape, alongside a number of short experimental side-projects, on such labels as FSOLDigital, AmbientLive, Jerky Oats, Bump Foot and many others.
From 2012, Ross Baker intends to record solely under his own name.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
1999: Ross and Dale form Second Thought.
2000: Dale leaves, Ross continues solo.
2001: First experiments with music software.
2002: First good music recorded.
2004: Debut album, Purlieu, is released.
2007: Follow-up Vacuum Road Songs is released. Ross enters self-imposed musical exile.
2009: Return from exile, 'Safernoc' recorded.
2010: Since Every Hour is Too Late recorded, drones and noise experimented with on the side.
2011: Final album, Leaf Pass released. End of Second Thought.
