Acoustic Rock

Second Glance is an acoustic trio formed from Jordan Daniel and Tyler Goodman of alternative band Sudden Epidemic, and Ian Wright of punk band Mess With Texas. Second Glance is a completely new style of music, that can barely be shoved into a genre, and touches many deep emotions such as betrayal, hatred, true love, and perfection.

Band/artist history

Second Glance is formed of three main players - Ian Wright on acoustic guitar (also the bassist for Mess With Texas and Deadend) - Tyler Goodman on acoustic guitar (also lead guitarist for Sudden Epidemic) - and Jordan Daniel with lead vocals and acoustic guitar (also rhythm guitarist for Sudden Epidemic and lead guitarist for The Ellaine Abduction).

Second Glance was formed in late 2002, after Ian and Tyler started playing together and wrote their first song of the same name, Second Glance. After deciding they would like to pursue this band (originally a side project from their original bands), Tyler invited Jordan to the group as lead vocalist. After two months of working together, Second Glance had already completed enough songs to record their first cd, Through The Bitter Cold Faces.

Jordan did not do much guitar on the first cd, as Ian and Tyler had written most of the music apart from him. Ian had also written all of the lyrics on the album except for a few songs, Almost Always Also (which Jordan had also written the music for), and The Abandonment Of Hope. After recording the demo of the album in Jordan's home studio, Second Glance set off to promoting the band with shows and sent the demo to many different record labels.

After being signed to Play Nice Records in 2002, Second Glance released the first album, Through The Bitter Cold Faces (remastered), on December 20, 2002. The second full length album, The Sound Of Betrayal, was released on July 7th, 2003.

The third album, Silver Grey, is currently being recorded in the studio.

Planning for the fourth album, These Letters Of Silence, has already started. A two-disc set, the album will feature many unreleased songs and brand new material. Amy Torres, aka Kiki, will also be helping Jordan on the cd, and will contribute some of her poetry and lyrics to the project. Featured poems by Amy, Jordan, Ian, and other local writers will be read in between some of the songs on the cd.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

Second Glance plays live shows all the time, from garages to basements to small venues and clubs. We love playing live compared to playing recorded versions of our songs. It's so much more real and personal.

The symbol for Second Glance is a heart and a spider. This one time, while playing live, a spider descended right in front of Jordan while he was singing, landed on the microphone, and scurried down the stand. It was like the music attracted the spider...Ian found that amusing.

Your musical influences

Dashboard Confessional, The Lyndsay Diaries, Remember Maine, early Idiot Pilot.

What equipment do you use?

Many different brands of acoustic guitars - Martin, Guild, Gibson, Takamine...mostly acoustic electric guitars.
