scarborough and faith
We're a heavier rock group based in Oak Park, IL, which is just one suburb west of Chicago. A common misperception about our band is that we are either a folk, emo, or pop-punk band. We are none of these.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We initially formed in 2002 as half "Jabber Jaw and the Mysterious Mushrooms" (Derek and Gopal) and half Stencils (Dom and Jamie). Our first stage name was "Curbside Kings," but after our hiatus through the end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004, we decided to change our name to Scarborough and Faith.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play live in local churches or venues that support high school bands (mainly Pilgrim Church), but we're trying to branch out into the city of Chicago where we don't have to be as inhibited with our shows.
Your musical influences
We're influenced by these bands among many, many others:
The Mars Volta
Tool
Primus
Mike Patton projects
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Radiohead
Phish
What equipment do you use?
Derek uses Pearl drums and Zildjian cymbals. Jamie uses Fender guitars and Marshall amplification. Dom uses Ibanez guitars and Fender amps. Gopal uses Fender and Carvin guitars through a Mesa amp and Peavey 4x12. We all use Cort basses and Peavey bass amps.

We're the hottest band in our area, and are more interesting than most "up and coming" bands in the city, except our age sort of restricts us. Actually, it really restricts us. A lot.
