SARANADE LP IS ON FIRE!!!
Washington, DC, April 8, 2004 Royal-T Records. Sarah-Jane Thomas, a 22-year-old graduate student at Howard University has released her first CD, the Saranade LP, through Royal-T Records, an independent label which she personally built. This scorching new album acts as a canvas for the artists diverse musical flavors, which can be described as R&B with a Caribbean flavor, as Thomass family comes from Haiti.
The highlights of the album are Crush, a smooth mid-tempo groove about the possibility of friendship turning into something more; Never Leave the Dance Floor, a banging upbeat song featuring Mobeon of the Flipside Babies, which lyrically paints a picture of a promising encounter at a party; and Love, a romantic ballad debating whether or not the protagonist should completely expose her emotions to the man she cares for. Also to be noted are The Back Door, a song of betrayal; Melancholy, which merges haunting classical harmonies with new-school R&B; and Forever, which reminds of romantic whispers between loved ones.
I just want to get my message heard, says Thomas. There are other ways to make music than to degrade ourselves.

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Make way for SARAH-JANE THOMAS, the first artist released on the Royal-T Records label! This young woman certainly has her hands full, from singing to songwriting to producing, as well as overseeing the general operation of Royal-T Records. She is looking to roll out the red carpet at a live performance near you.
Sarah has picked up several instruments over the years, among them piano, violin, and guitar. Along with these instruments, she has also picked up a variety of musical tastes, her influences ranging from the late Aaliyah to Carlos Santana to Bob Marley to Tori Amos. These different styles all manifest themselves in her music. Recently, Sarah has formed a back-up band to accompany her during her live performances. This band is comprised of other young talented local musicians, who are each solo artists in their own right.
She is also the Chief Exective Officer of Royal-T Records. The label, based out of the D.C. Metropolitan area, began in late July 2002, received its business license in October of the same year, and now houses several talented acts in the genres of R&B, Gospel, and Rock/Alternative.
Sarah has recently graduated in May 2003, cum laude from Howard University, with a B.A. in Television Production. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Intercultural Communications from Howard and a Business Degree from Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA. She plans to continue to develop Royal-T Records, and establish a nonprofit organization. Her first LP Saranade LP has recently been completed, and is now on sale. Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I do play live, but right now I'm taking a little break for school. I have played at clubs and coffee houses, as well as fundraising event. I love performing live, and the whole anticipation and preparation process. My favorite part is when the crowd is singing and dancing along.
Your musical influences
My influences come from several different genres. I am influenced by Caribbean music because my family is from Haiti, as well as old school R&B like Stevie Wonder. I also like Sade, and newer artists such as TLC and Aaliyah. Interestingly enough, I take a lot from rock and pop as well, for example artists such as Sneaker Pimps and Garbage.
What equipment do you use?
I'm working off of a Yamaha PSU-something keyboard, a Zoom Sampletrack 224, a Fostex VF 80, and Adobe Audition, among other things.
Anything else?
Not that I can think of...sorry.
