Band/artist history
: It’s Sadomasochism’s specialty. But the members of Sado, relishing their dark horse status, just gritted their teeth and persevered, clinging even tighter to their bloody, gleefully blasphemous art. As the group’s songwriting and musicianship tightened and gigs became increasingly frequent, strong word-of-mouth resulted in the formation of a stringent and devoted fan base. Respect would finally come in 2001, when Sado took home the top prize in radio station WKLQ’s Heavyweight Championship battle of the bands, causing a pathetic legion of competing nu-metal pretenders and wannabes to drop jaws and blow out their Depends. Forward momentum then carried Sado to numerous gigs throughout Michigan and the Midwest, opening for the likes of Satyricon, Krisiun, Angel Corpse, Pissing Razors, Dying Fetus, Immolation, The Chasm, Internal Bleeding and Summon, as well as putting on a bone-splintering performance at 2002’s Detroit Death fest benefit for guitarist James Murphy. on 2 Midwestern dates at the request of Phil Anselmo. Both shows went incredibly well and helped solidify Sadomasochism as a crushing live act to the masses. With the successful completion of “Worship the Dark,” Sado is eyeballing world domination like a necrophiliac does fresh arrivals at the coroner’s office. Indeed, the spreading of Sado’s dark message is exactly what the world needs right now. So don’t be surprised when craniums start popping and the rivers are choked with blood, it’s not the work of some insane terrorist. It’s strictly Sado.
