Rydia
Apathy-a lack of emotion or feeling; impassiveness. This is a common theme that Rydia polishes through their songs. Confused in their own music, Rydia tries to combine different elements of rock tied down by driving melodies and harmonies. "Indie guitar rock," producer Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria) calls it. The band's most recent album entitled "Pictures Left Behind," experiments with different styles of music, creating their own unique genre that will have you moving around and wanting more. Rydia tears apart your standard song writing philosophy and produces something creative and exciting.
The band started in the spring of 2002 when founding member, Dave, found himself recording at a studio in Pennsylvania along with Ben (drums). They recorded a 4 song demo which quickly spread through MP3.com and other internet resources. Just like every other band, Rydia burned copies of their own demos and sold them for a few bucks or whatever they were offered. They played every show they could get their hands on, ranging from friends' basements with local bands, to bigger shows with bands like The Used, Senses Fail and more It was around July of 2003 when Rydia embarked on their first Mid/Eastern US tour. The most amazing experience about this tour for the band didn't involve seeing new sites, or meeting new people. It was the fact the band had managed to independently setup a three week tour and had kids singing along to their songs after hearing them on MP3.com
Ever since, Rydia has spent a great deal of time in the studio, constantly innovating new material and collaborating ideas. It was only after a couple months of playing that Rydia inked their first record deal. A small Indie label out of Chicago, Vinyl Summer Recordings, offered to release the band's first EP. After spending a month in the studio, the "Pictures Left Behind" CDEP was completed. The band has managed to produce a collection of songs that they are extremely confident about
With a full US tour in the works and a debut release coming up, there is a big future ahead for Rydia. With an average age of 19, the band feels that they have reached a level of professionalism with their music. The band works hard, hoping to get the opportunity to share and express their music on a larger scale. "Pictures Left Behind" CDEP hits stores October 14th, 2003!
