Rungg
RUNGG is essentially a duo in collaboration with various musicians in the studio and on the stage. The genre is commercial pop-rock. Our music has a high degree of accessibility, both lyrically and compositionally. Our songs are often about the more subtle shades of human emotions. Sometimes, they capture the relevance of certain issues of importance in our society. Some songs are purely reflective of a certain mood. Our message is at times melancholy, yet carries the spirit of hope. Some songs have a tinge of pure introspection, others are on a note of verve. This makes our music very colourful to the audience and shows a lot of versatility in the album. We hope you enjoy the many colours of Rungg!
Runggs debut album comprises of eleven original tracks .The album is self-titled. All songs have been written by Ifu and Sarmad, with a few exceptions where Zahid-ur-Rehaman, Ali Mustafa, Junaid Khan and Riaz Saghar have collaborated in co-writing. The entire album has been produced by Sarmad, which includes arrangements, engineering, mixing and mastering. All tracks have been recorded, mixed and mastered at the S&M Studio, Peshawar.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We fondly recall one winter afternoon when we first met in Lahore for a jam session. At the time neither one of us could foresee what was going to happen. In less than two days, we had written four songs (which would become a part of the album released later). Something had clicked; we realized then that the flavour of good chemistry would lead us into writing more songs together. It was almost like Kafka wrote; an axe for the frozen sea inside us. We were to discover a vivid projection of our own dreams on the same sea.
As learning musicians growing up in the underground music scene in Pakistan, our experiences had been different, but together we discovered a music that now reflects our artistic direction. It also reveals who we are, as individuals. This, we feel, is what will give Rungg its colour and its soul.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, in karachi, Lahore, Islamabad etc
The afteroon we met for the first time by chance at a jam session, realizing during it that oour music would inevitably be translated into a band. It was a special moment indeed.
