Rose Thorn

The two original founding members of the band that came to be called Rose Thorn were Mike and Matt, but they quickly acquired Rob to come in on guitar as they couldnt really play their instruments back then (although after lots of practise this matter has been resolved... partly :P). After recruiting a drummer we wrote some songs under the name White Fire. We felt that the drummer was not really adding anything, as well as being very busy with other commitments so we parted company and after a fairly long search recruited Tom while continuing to write songs. Mainly due to circumstance, Matt, Tom, and Rob broke off for a spell shortly after the recruitment of Tom. The three piece entered the studio and wrote the majority of our current songs, including a complete re-write of the original White Fire song, now called 'Belief'. However, this trio eventually came to realise that they had lost a large part of their former sound, and it felt like part of the chemistry of the band was missing. With Mike back in on vocals and the previously missing synth, our sound felt more complete and we began to work on recording and performances, culminating in a covers set at our friend's halloween party. Using programmed drums due to a lack of space and Tom being at university, we played several well known and less well known songs from bands we like. Although the level of performance was not great, all the drums had been programmed and every song learnt in the space of about a week, so we were reasonably satisfied! Since this, the band has focused a lot more on our own songs, finally completing the recording of Belief in early 2006. With several more songs nearing completion and two currently being recorded, we hope to continue with our current line-up for the forseable future. We are not currently playing live as we are trying to get all our songs written and recorded. We hope to begin playing around easter so watch this space!
