Ron Stephens
I am a singer/songwriter from Newbridge, Gwent, and have written songs for thirty years.I name my influences as Alan Hull (the late Lindisfarne man), Kate Bush, Rod Stewart (often underrated as a composer) and Justin Hayward.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Few and far between. I haveplayed at a folk club and hope to again when I can afford to go. I once compered and opened a poems and pints night in Abersychan. In the itinery the organiser had me down to do a "fifteen minute guitar solo". I thought, who are they expecting? Hendrix?
Your musical influences
Alan Hull is to my mind the greatest songwriter this country has ever produced. There should be a statue of him in the centre of Newcastle. I urge every one to listen to his "Pipedream" album.
What equipment do you use?
An acoustic guitar, and my PC. I use an old DATA BEKKER program, Cool EDit Pro. It's enough for my needs.
