I'm actually involved in a couple of different bands. One is a teaching band fronted by 2 Vet School professors from Oklahoma State University. Since they are both pathologists, the band was dubbed AC/VP -- American College of Veterinary Pathologists. These guys have been taking rock songs and redoing the lyrics to fit the vet school curriculum. They've got a knack for writing some great lyrics, and we have a live concert every year for the students. Everyone has a great time, and people actually learn =-) The other band I'm involved with is the worship band at Sunnybrook Christian Church. I play acoustic and love it. If you made me choose to only do 1 thing, it would be this.
Your musical influences
Musical influences - I'm a sucker for blues and rock. Some of my favorite artists for electric are Ian Moore, Eric Clapton, SRV and Jimi Hendrix. I've been getting really into bluegrass over the past couple of years, too. My influences there would be Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Bryan Sutton and David Grier. There are so many really good flatpickers out there. If you ever get a chance, go to Winfield, KS in September to the National Flatpick Guitar Championships. You'll be blown away by the talent that's out there. As far as Christian music goes, I've got to say my favorite is Bebo Norman. He writes some great songs and is a very talented singer.
What equipment do you use?
For electric, I play a Mexican Strat and an Agile AL3000. For amplification, I just scored a Tech21 Trademark 60. I love this amp! For pedals, I have a Vox wah and a BBE Sonic Stomp. I have a custom built Cornerstone Grand Auditorium acoustic. This thing is a work of art! See my pics on my main page.
