ROGELIO BAILLERES

ROGELIO BAILLÉRES GIL is an explosion of ideas, class, be able to rock on a scene. He is a cultural versatile agitator, in other words a star.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
ROGELIO BAILLÈRES was born on September 28 in the port of Tampico, Tamaulipas México. His artistic career initiated to the age of 18, when he began to make an impact on his locality thanks to diverse exhibitions of art and his participation in diverse cultural artistic and musical events. With the passage of time his rebellious but well prosecuted soul began to experiment with less conventional trends for the expression, as it it is with punk music, rock and hardcore metal. After becoming part of an important underground movement, Rogelio deboted his participation in garage bands such as 'Blood Brothers' [1999] and '6BM' [2001] which suffered from little stardom, but not without leaving fingerprint on their community and musical movement. In no time, his experimentation by means of the painting (Branch in which he has already been part of), he decides to exhibit and his connections lead him to collaborate with cultural movements such as the project of The Garden of the Art, Mexican Art Online and the collaboration to such diverse magazines of culture, Pink Cow, Ojo Artistico, among others. After diverse exhibitions and being useful of the great platform that his locality was giving him, to show his art work material, which though he was appearing brute, he was captivating the spectator, giving potential to heavy critic that lead to gaining importance to what the young artist was sharing. Bailléres was pleasing of playing with the thought of the spectator, prosecuting it to messages of religious parody, question of the systems and subtle (fine) erotic iconographies, which was leading his paintings as controversial objects. He says, that the controversy of his work was for those who could not see more to what was presented to them, that really, the message of his work is translated in love, acceptance, value and spirit. Undoubtedly, an artist who searches; " To wake up ideas and to prosecute once these have become alive." His style, indefinite. Slightly conservative and sometimes dangerously Franc. Expressive and careful in details. He pleases with freestyle and abuse of textures, materials and his own imagination. Recapturing his love for the music, he decides to return to the musical environment, once again for the Underground way which Rogelio always has expressed that the loves due to the freedom that this 'Underworld' provides him to 'Show & Tell.' After collaborating with Underground Icons at the northern environment of Mexico, Rogelio started collaborating with people, such as; Héctor Gómez [DJ and Producer], Oscar Vásquez [Producer], Teco Santos [Producer and member of the Power Pop band ASDF], Rogelio manages to produce a moderated digestable musical material, this time experimenting on the genres Electro, Pop and Club. Among his productions they stand out "You Make me wanna sin ", "True Colors" and his most recent material " Electro Snob." Rogelio is working in order to produce several versions of this production, incorporating diverse sounds such as generating REMIXES wich will grant a Tribal, House, Techno - Trance and Electro-Clash sound. At the mean time you can enjoy of ELECTRO SNOB (Hoy Many Licks Mix), produced by O. Vásquez. -- Artelista.com & Angeles Ramos
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes I do. I've performed live at several places. Clubs, private events, raves, circuit parties, etc. I enjoy live performance the most! I guess it's a great way to interact with the people who want something more out of you. You get to appreciate their prescence while you share your production. I also get to adquire motivation and inspiration in order to work harder, make more music and deliver the best I can on a performance. Live shows are just an explotion of energy I always feel gravitated towards. A special moment... In 2005 I performed my first electro-song called "You make me wanna sin" at the anual DEEP magazine party. It was a blast! People were dancing and getting wild, just as if I was giving people instructions to behave sexualy and sexy, but that's the idea of the song! I was very happy about that performance.
Your musical influences
I love all types of music, in fact I listen to a very diverse collection of it. I appreciate all kinds of music genres, I obviously gravitate more towards the electronic - pop scence, still I like to keep myself open to options and learn from other types of sounds, cultures and styles.
Anything else?
I don't take myself that seriously. I enjoy the whole pop-culture thing and I make a parody of it by making an alter-ego of myself through my music. Somehow I search for empowerement, attitude and individuality. The real message behind the superficial-snob kind of thing, what I try to deliver is more of a vision of love, genereting ideas, inspire people to be who they are without fear, be sexualy smart, have a voice and be yourself!
